
Temple City of Madurai:
Madurai, the second largest city of Tamil Nadu, dated 6th century before JC. It one of the nicest Indian cars nicely situated on the river Vaigai, fringed by coconut plantations and rice fields. This large city-temple in southern India is fully associated with his famous Meenakshi Temple.
The Meenakshi Temple is one of the largest temple complexes in India. It is a double rectangular sanctuary, the temple dedicated to Meenakshi Sud (wife of Shiva) and the other to Shiva. This is the Mecca of Madurai, a virtual city within the city. The most remarkable piece of Meenakshi Temple is the room to "Thousand Pillars" (985 exactly) built in the 16th century, which is both an architectural wonder that a work of art. Every night is held the ceremony at the temple, when the statue of Shiva is provided in the Board of Parvati. The procession is accompanied by prayers and sacred music.
Another main attraction is Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal. It is one of the vital tourist places in Madurai located very near to the temple. In the year 1636 it was built by the king. The king and the family lived in that palace. There is originally two parts Swargavilasa and Rangavilasa in the palace. Also many other places are there in the palace where the tourists are permitted to go. More places are there to visit.
